My Grandmother used to make this stew topped with this dumpling-like oblong dough dropped on top of the meat. It sounds like just a stew and dumpling combination, but it was different. I was very young and don't remember really what was so different about it. I think the stew was more like a chicken pot pie without a crust cooked in a big pot on top of the stove.
